ESPN Vet Schlereth Leaves For Fox Sports
- ESPN NFL analyst Mark Schlereth has left the network to join Fox Sports, it was announced Tuesday. Schlereth, who had been with ESPN since 2001 and was a frequent guest on SportsCenter, will serve as an NFL analyst for the various Fox Sports 1 studio shows. It was not immediately clear whether he will have a role on the FOX broadcast network. According to Sporting News, it was a mutual parting of the ways. Schlereth’s move had been “in the works for months” and ESPN did not plan to renew his contract. [Sporting News 7.11]
NBC’s Miller Looking to Retire
- In an interview with Golfweek published Monday, NBC Sports lead golf analyst Johnny Miller said he was ready to retire from broadcasting at the end of the season, but agreed to a one-year contract extension at the behest of NBC. The network, he said, has not yet settled on a potential replacement. Miller says he will work a reduced schedule next year and then — “unless they’re begging” — bid adieu. SEC Network Names New Lead CFB Team
- ESPN announced Tuesday that play-by-play voice Tom Hart and analysts Cole Cubelic and Jordan Rodgers will form the lead broadcast team for college football on SEC Network, replacing last year’s lead team of Brent Musburger and Jesse Palmer. Musburger is now retired and Palmer is reportedly moving up to ESPN’s studio. Hart and Cubelic have been with SEC Network since it launched in 2014 and worked together last season.
