Latest 30 For 30 Nears ’17 High
- The premiere of the ESPN 30 For 30 documentary “What Carter Lost” earned 1.0 million viewers Thursday night, trailing only “Celtics/Lakers: Best of Enemies” as the most-watched 30 For 30 premiere this year. It comfortably topped higher-profile entires such as “Mike and the Mad Dog” (657K) and “This Was the XFL” (917K). For the night, it earned a smaller audience than the Little League game that preceded it (1.3M), but a higher rating in the key adults 18-49 demographic (0.38 to 0.25).
Thursday Night Bump For NFL Preseason
- Thursday’s Dolphins-Eagles NFL preseason game earned 1.4 million viewers on NFL Network, up 22% from the network’s game on the comparable night last year, a joined-in-progress Cowboys-Seahawks matchup in a later time slot (1.1M). Ratings were not immediately available.
USA Gymnastics Championships Hits High
- The women’s final of the USA Gymnastics National Championships earned a 1.8 rating and 2.9 million viewers on NBC last Sunday night, down 44% in ratings and 47% in viewership from last year’s pre-Olympic competition (3.2, 5.4M), but up 13% and 22% respectively from 2015, when coverage aired on a Saturday night (1.6, 2.4M). Excluding Olympic years, it was the largest audience for the event since 2007. Coverage of the men’s competition had a 0.5 and 755,000 earlier in the day.
