Tirico to Call NBC Notre Dame Games
- NBC Sports broadcaster Mike Tirico has been named the play-by-play voice on the network’s Notre Dame football games, replacing Dan Hicks, it was announced Monday. Tirico, who filled in for Hicks on some Notre Dame games last year, will work alongside the returning Doug Flutie. Notre Dame football is just the latest assignment for Tirico, the voice of NBC’s Thursday Night Football and the host of its Olympics coverage. [NBC Sports PR 8.14]
Herbstreit to Work Three Games in Five Nights to Start Season
- ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit will work three games in five nights to start the season, Ohio State-Indiana on August 31, FSU-Alabama on September 2, and Tennessee-Georgia Tech on September 4, each with a different broadcast partner — Dave Flemming, Chris Fowler and Rece Davis, respectively. Simms the Younger Joining NBC
- NBC Sports has hired former CBS NFL analyst Chris Simms as a studio analyst for its Notre Dame football coverage, replacing Dhani Jones. Simms previously worked college games while with Fox Sports.
