A forgettable game delivered forgettable numbers on NBC’s Sunday Night Football.
Oakland-Washington earned a 10.1 rating and 17.478 million viewers on SNF over the weekend, down 14% in ratings and 15% in viewership from Bears-Cowboys last year (11.7, 20.6M) and down 23% and 21% respectively from Broncos-Lions in 2015 (13.1, 22.1M).
Washington’s win, in which they led 21-0 late in the third quarter, was the lowest rated Week 3 edition of SNF since Broncos-Patriots in 2006 (10.0) and the least-watched since Colts-Cardinals in 2009 (17.469M).
Including streaming viewership on NBC and NFL digital platforms, the game had 17.6 million viewers — still down 15% from last year (20.7M) and the least-watched SNF game in Week 3 since 2009.
Three of NBC’s four NFL telecasts this season have hit multi-year lows, the lone exception being Giants-Cowboys in Week 1.
Ratings were down disproportionately in all young adult demographics, dropping 17% in adults 18-49 (7.6 to 6.3), 20% in adults 18-34 (6.4 to 5.1) and 18% in adults 25-54 (8.7 to 7.1). Notably, the decline in adults 50+ was a more modest 13% (from 8.3 to 7.2).
