A lopsided score resulted in less impressive numbers, but ALCS ratings again increased over previous years.
Monday’s Astros-Yankees ALCS Game 3 had a 3.1 rating and 5.1 million viewers on FS1, up 15% in ratings and 19% in viewership from Indians-Blue Jays on TBS last year (2.7, 4.3M) and up 63% and 65% respectively from Royals-Blue Jays on FS1 in 2015 (1.9, 3.1M).
Compared to last year’s LCS Game 3 on FS1, Cubs-Dodgers in the National League, ratings fell 20% from a 3.9 and viewership 22% from 6.5 million.
The Yankees’ blowout win, which peaked with 7.1 million viewers from 9:30-9:45 PM ET, was the second-least watched ALCS game involving the team. Their 2012 Game 2 loss to Detroit had 4.2 million on a Sunday afternoon.
Including the Spanish-language audience on Fox Deportes (200K) and streaming viewership on Fox Sports GO (85K), Game 3 had 5.4 million viewers.
Locally, Game 3 had a 14.1 rating in New York City and a 13.3 in Houston.
Through three games, the ALCS is averaging 5.8 million viewers on TV — up 57% from Indians-Blue Jays last year (3.7M) and the best three-game average for the ALCS since Red Sox-Tigers in 2013 (6.9M). Compared to last year’s NLCS on FS1, viewership is down 11% from last year (6.5M).
