FOX NFL ratings slipped in Week 6, Ohio State-Nebraska neared an FS1 college football record, and the SEC on CBS fell for a sixth straight week.
Modest Drop For NFL Singleheader on FOX
The Week 6 NFL singleheader window, featuring either Packers-Vikings or Rams-Jaguars in most markets, earned a 9.4 rating and 16.2 million viewers on FOX — down 8% in ratings and 6% in viewership from last year (10.2, 17.2M) and down 11% and 9% respectively from 2015 (10.6, 17.9M). Despite the drop, it was the second-most watched NFL telecast of the day, topping NBC’s Sunday Night Football (16.2M).
FS1 Nears College Football Record For OSU-Nebraska
Last Saturday’s Ohio State-Nebraska college football game earned a 1.3 rating and 2.4 million viewers on FS1, the third-largest college football audience ever on the network behind Texas-Oklahoma last year (2.8M) and Michigan-Utah in 2015 (2.9M). There was no comparable window last year.
Adding in the streaming audience on Fox Sports GO (42K) boosts the numbers only slightly from 2.38 to 2.42 million.
Though strong for FS1, Saturday’s game was trounced head-to-head by ESPN’s Arkansas-Alabama game (2.2, 3.9M). In other action on FS1, Oregon-Stanford had a 0.38 and 700,000 and the delayed TCU-Kansas State game had a 0.36 (+57%) and 568,000 (+56%).
SEC on CBS Down Yet Again
Auburn-LSU scored a 2.25 rating and 3.6 million viewers on the SEC on CBS last Saturday, down 42% in ratings and 45% in viewership from Alabama-Tennessee last year (3.91, 6.6M) and down 37% and 38% respectively from Alabama-Texas A&M in 2015 (3.59, 5.8M). All six editions of the SEC on CBS have declined from last year.
