A halfway decent matchup delivered halfway decent NFL ratings for CBS.
The Week 6 NFL national window, featuring Steelers-Chiefs in 86% of markets, had a 12.0 rating and 20.6 million viewers on CBS Sunday — down 24% in ratings and 26% in viewership from last year on FOX (15.8, 28.0M) and down 17% and 18% respectively from 2015 on CBS (14.5, 25.0M). Cowboys-Packers was the featured game last year and Chargers-Packers headlined the 2015 window.
It was the lowest rated Week 6 national window since the 2007 season (9.5) and the least-watched since 2008 (20.0M).
Despite the low, it delivered the second-best numbers of the season on CBS, trailing only the Week 3 national window (12.2, 21.3M). It was the ninth NFL window to exceed 20 million viewers this season, compared to ten at the same point last year and 14 in 2015.
Earlier in the day, regional action delivered a 6.6 and 10.9 million on CBS, down 14% in ratings and 17% in viewership from last year on FOX (7.7, 13.2M) and down 39% and 40% respectively from 2015 on CBS (10.9, 18.3M).
Excluding the early morning London games, it was the least-watched NFL window on a broadcast network this season.
