The winless Giants, playing without their only star, still gave Sunday Night Football ratings a boost in Week 6.
Giants-Broncos delivered a 9.4 rating and 16.2 million viewers on NBC Sunday night, up 16% in ratings and 19% in viewership from Colts-Texans last year (8.1, 13.6M) and down 28% and 29% respectively from Patriots-Colts in 2015 (13.1, 22.8M).
The Giants’ win posted the biggest increase of the season for Sunday Night Football, with the caveat that last year’s game was the series’ lowest rated and least-watched matchup since 2011.
On the other hand, it was also the lowest rated and least-watched game on NBC this season. Three straight SNF games have posted a single-digit rating, the most in a single season since 2008.
Ratings increased in all three major adult demographics, rising 14% in adults 18-49 (5.8), 15% in adults 18-34 (4.5) and 14% in adults 25-54 (6.4).
Denver led all markets with a 38.2 rating, followed by Albuquerque, N.M. (16.3), Philadelphia (15.4), New Orleans (15.0) and Richmond, Va. (14.9). New York ranked seventh with a 14.3.
