SEC ratings are not what they used to be on CBS.
Tennessee-Alabama drew a 2.8 rating and 4.4 million viewers on the SEC on CBS last Saturday, down 44% in ratings and 47% in viewership from Alabama-Texas A&M last year (5.0, 8.5M) and down 35% and 36% respectively from the same Tennessee-Alabama matchup in 2015 (4.3, 7.0M).
All seven editions of the SEC on CBS have declined from last season, with five telecasts down by more than a third. Both Alabama games on CBS have declined by more than 40%.
Just once all season has CBS reached a 3.0 rating or five million viewers for SEC coverage, netting a 3.2 and 5.1 million for Tennessee-Florida in week three. By the same point last season, CBS had already exceeded those marks five times.
The SEC on CBS has only topped the charts in one week this season — for the same Tennessee-Florida game in week three — compared to four times at the same point last year. Saturday marked just the third time this season it has finished at least second.
