Aided by a college football lead-in, World Series overnights topped last year for the first time.
Saturday’s Dodgers-Astros World Series Game 4 delivered a 10.6 overnight rating on FOX, up a tick from Indians-Cubs last year (10.5) and up 14% from Royals-Mets in 2015 (9.3).
The 10.6 is tied as the highest for Game 4 of the World Series since Yankees-Phillies in 2009 (15.6), matching the clinching Giants-Tigers Game 4 in 2012. Keep in mind that Game 4 aired on a Sunday night — with an NFL lead-in — from 2007-13.
The 10.6 is also the highest for a Saturday night World Series game since 2009, when Yankees-Phillies Game 3 scored a 10.8 on the night.
The Dodgers’ series-tying win was the first game of the series to top Cubs-Indians last year, aided by a direct lead-in from the Penn State-Ohio State college football game (6.4). Last year’s game had no such lead-in.
Game 4 delivered a 32.6 rating in Houston, down 23% from the clinching White Sox-Astros Game 4 in 2005 (42.2). Los Angeles turned in a series-low 23.2.
