On a weekend bereft of good games, the Big Ten stood atop the college football ratings charts.
Michigan-Wisconsin delivered a 3.3 rating and 5.2 million viewers on FOX last Saturday afternoon, the highest rated and most-watched Noon ET game on any network this season. The previous highs were a 2.7 and 4.1 million for Michigan-Indiana on ABC in week seven.
The Badgers’ win trails only Penn State-Ohio State in October (5.75, 9.9M) as the highest rated and most-watched game on FOX this season. Excluding bowls and conference championship games, it was the fifth-most watched college football telecast ever on FOX.
Four of the five most-watched games on FOX have involved at least one Big Ten team. That includes a pair of games before FOX acquired Big Ten rights this season — Michigan State-Oregon in 2014 (3.5, 6.0M) and Ohio State-Oklahoma last year (3.4, 5.8M).
For the week, Michigan-Wisconsin was the top college football game on any network. Big Ten games have topped the charts in seven of 12 weeks this season.
In other action last weekend, FOX scored a 1.3 (flat) and 2.0 million (-4%) for Maryland-Michigan State and a 0.95 (-27%) and 1.6 million (-27%) for Stanford-Cal.
