NFL Week 10 ratings got off to a soft start with slight declines for NBC’s Thursday Night Football opener.
Seahawks-Cardinals scored a 7.9 rating and 13.1 million viewers on NBC and NFL Network Thursday night, down 2% in ratings and viewership from the first NBC simulcast last season, Saints-Panthers in Week 11 (8.1, 13.3M).
Compared to last year’s Week 10 Thursday night game, Ravens-Browns exclusively on NFL Network, ratings increased 126% from a 3.5 and viewership 131% from 5.7 million.
Seattle’s win, which peaked with 14.7 million viewers from 9:45-10 PM ET, tied the eighth-lowest NFL rating ever on primetime broadcast television.
Thursday’s game had a streaming audience of 381,000 viewers across Amazon Prime and the various NFL and NBC digital platforms, up 25% from Saints-Panthers last year (308K). That includes 267,000 on Amazon alone, up 28% from last year’s Twitter audience of 209,000.
Across TV and streaming, the game had 13.4 million viewers — down 1% from last year (13.6M).
Ratings fell in each of the key young adult demographics, down 5% in adults 18-49 (from 4.2 to 4.0), 6% in adults 18-34 (3.2 to 3.0) and 6% in adults 25-54 (5.1 to 4.8).
Seattle led all markets Thursday night with a 38.9 rating, with Phoenix a distant second (21.6). New Orleans was the top neutral market (15.8), with Richmond, Va. (14.8) and Portland (13.6) rounding out the top five.
