It has not exactly been a compelling series, but Warriors-Pelicans ratings have been on the rise nonetheless.
Sunday’s Warriors-Pelicans NBA Playoffs Game 4 earned a 4.1 overnight rating on ABC, up 5% from last year (Cavs-Raptors: 3.9) and up 8% from 2016 (Cavs-Hawks: 3.8).
The 4.1 is ABC’s lowest for a Warriors game this late in the postseason since 2015. That year, Game 3 of their semifinal against Memphis had a 4.0. Overnights for last year’s Warriors-Jazz Game 4, which aired on TNT, were not available.
On Friday, Game 3 of the series had a 2.6 final rating and 4.2 million viewers on ESPN — up 13% in rating and 14% in viewership from last year (Cavs-Raptors: 2.3, 3.6M) and up 30% and 31% respectively from 2016 (Cavs-Hawks: 2.0, 3.2M).
It was the least-watched Warriors semifinal game — regardless of network or window — since Game 2 of the 2015 series against Memphis (4.1M).
Ratings and viewership declined from last year’s Warriors-Jazz Game 3 (3.6, 5.9M), but that game aired on ABC in primetime.
Later Friday, Rockets-Jazz Game 3 had a 2.2 and 3.5 million — down 27% in ratings and 29% in viewership from last year (Spurs-Rockets: 3.0, 4.9M) and down 29% and 30% respectively from 2016 (Spurs-Thunder: 3.1, 5.0M). Overnights for Sunday’s Game 4 were not immediately available.
