Stanley Cup Final ratings hit a third-straight three-year high on Saturday.
Saturday’s Golden Knights-Capitals Stanley Cup Final Game 3 earned a 1.9 rating and 3.4 million viewers on NBCSN, up 19% in ratings and 16% in viewership from Penguins-Predators last year (1.6, 3.0M), and up 27% and 23% respectively from Penguins-Sharks in 2016 (1.5, 2.8M).
Washington’s win, which peaked with 4.2 million viewers from 10:45-11 PM ET, had a streaming audience of 137,000 viewers (+71%). Combined across TV and streaming, Game 3 had 3.58 million viewers, up 18% from last year (3.03M) and up 25% from 2016 (2.86M).
Ratings and viewership were the highest for a Game 3 in the Stanley Cup Final since 2015 (Lightning-Blackhawks: 2.2, 3.9M). All three games have hit three-year highs.
As should be no surprise given the Saturday night timeslot, Game 3 ranks as the lowest rated and least-watched of the series. Ratings and viewership have declined from game-to-game, largely due to the schedule. Dropping from NBC to NBCSN sank Game 2 and moving from Wednesday to Saturday — the least-watched night of the week — sank Game 3.
The Stanley Cup Final is now averaging 4.23 million viewers across NBC’s TV and digital platforms, up 14% from last year (3.73M) and up 37% from 2016 (3.15M). The full postseason has averaged 1.34 million, up 8% from last year (1.22M) and up 18% from 2016 (1.13M).
