The Packers and unbeaten Rams delivered a slightly better rating on Sunday than the Cowboys did last season.
The Week 8 NFL national window, featuring Packers-Rams in 94% of markets, earned a 12.8 rating and 21.88 million viewers on FOX Sunday — up a tick in ratings but down 1% in viewership from last year (Dallas-Washington: 12.7, 22.02M), and down 2% and 4% respectively from 2016 (Packers-Falcons: 13.1, 22.74M).
The telecast delivered the second-highest rating and fourth-largest audience of the NFL season. FOX has aired three of the top four games.
The national window was the highest rated and most-watched television program of the weekend, topping the subsequent Game 5 of the World Series (10.0, 17.63M).
Though up overall, ratings declined in each of the key young demographics — falling 10% in adults 18-34 (5.0 to 4.5), 6% in adults 18-49 (6.6 to 6.2) and 5% in adults 25-54 (8.0 to 7.6).
In addition, the TV audience was the smallest for the Week 8 national window since 2014 (20.75M).
Earlier Sunday, regional action featuring Washington-N.Y. Giants in 59% of markets had a 6.5 (-11%) and 10.38 million (-17%). It was the lowest rated and least-watched Sunday afternoon NFL window this season.
