Costas No Longer With NBC
The New York Post initially reported back in August that Costas and NBC were engaged in buyout talks. In an interview at the time, Costas said that he was no longer a fit at NBC, where his on-air roles had dwindled over the years.
Costas had been with NBC since 1980, serving as the most prominent face of NBC Sports for the majority of his tenure. At various points, he was the lead studio host or play-by-play voice on NBC’s Olympics, NBA, NFL and Major League Baseball coverage. His final NBC event was last year’s Belmont Stakes.
