Despite a rout, Eagles-Cowboys delivered multiple multi-year highs on Sunday night.
Eagles-Cowboys averaged a 12.2 rating and 21.45 million viewers on NBC Sunday night, marking the most-watched Week 7 Sunday Night Football game in five years (49ers-Broncos: 23.79M). It tied as the highest rated, matching a 2015 Eagles-Panthers game.
The Cowboys’ easy win, which peaked with 24.0 million viewers from 9:15-9:30 PM ET, also ranks as the rivals’ highest rated and most-watched primetime game since 2015 (Week 9: 13.6, 23.05M). Last year’s Week 10 matchup averaged an 11.5 and 20.10 million.
It also ranks fourth among primetime games this season, behind Cowboys-Saints in Week 4 (13.7, 24.11M) and NBC’s two Week 1 games — Steelers-Patriots (12.6, 22.21M) and Packers-Bears (12.8, 22.03M).
Ratings increased 28% and viewership 34% from Week 7 last season (Bengals-Chiefs: 9.5, 16.02M) and 11% and 12% respectively from a Falcons-Patriots Super Bowl rematch in 2017 (11.0, 19.24M).
All seven NFL windows the Cowboys have played in have increased over last year, the last six by double-digits. That comes with the caveat that five of the seven year-ago windows did not involve Dallas.
Including a streaming audience of 511,000 (+99%), the game averaged 22.0 million (+35%). Sunday Night Football is now averaging 20.4 million viewers for the season (including streaming), up 4% from last year (19.8M) and the highest since 2015.
Dallas-Ft. Worth led all markets Sunday night with a 33.7 rating, followed by close behind by Philadelphia at a 33.5. Cowboys secondary markets San Antonio (25.9) and Austin, Tex. (24.5) ranked third and fourth. Las Vegas and Norfolk, Va. tied as the top neutral market with a 16.9.
SNF scored a 6.6 rating in adults 18-49 (+30%), its highest in Week 7 since 2015 (7.6). It also drew a 4.7 in adults 18-34, up 18% from last year (4.0) but down 16% from 2017 (5.6).
