Ravens-Steelers has been postponed again, this time to Tuesday; Alabama-LSU is back on schedule and set for primetime on CBS; the NBA has released its preseason schedule; Trey Wingo’s ESPN tenure is officially over.
Ravens-Steelers PPD again, this time to Tuesday
The Ravens-Steelers game originally scheduled for Thanksgiving night has been rescheduled again, this time from Sunday at 1:15 PM ET to Tuesday at 8:00. It would remain on NBC. If played Tuesday, the game would bump next week’s scheduled Cowboys-Ravens Thursday Night Football game to the following Monday (December 7) at 5 PM ET. [Related: NFL TV schedule.]
Ravens-Steelers would be just the third Tuesday NFL game since 1946, joining Bills-Titans earlier this season and Vikings-Eagles a decade ago. It would be the second of those games to air on NBC, joining Vikings-Eagles. [NFL PR 11.27]
Alabama-LSU back on schedule
The SEC announced Friday that the Alabama-LSU game postponed earlier this season has been rescheduled for a week from Saturday (December 5) at 8 PM ET on CBS. The game was originally scheduled for November 14 on CBS in a special post-Masters 6 PM ET window.
Alabama-LSU aired in primetime on CBS for eight straight seasons from 2011-18. Last year’s matchup, a rare meeting of the nation’s top two teams, aired in the afternoon.
In other college football scheduling news, this year’s Pinstripe Bowl was canceled. It was to air December 29 on ESPN. [SEC 11.27; ESPN.com 11.27]
NBA releases preseason schedule
The NBA released its preseason schedule Friday, with games set to run from December 11-19. The first night of games is scheduled to include Clippers-Lakers. Network assignments were not disclosed. The league also said Friday that it will release the first half of its regular season schedule “in the coming days.”
In other recent NBA news, the league awarded the 2024 All-Star weekend to Indianapolis, which was originally scheduled to host this season’s event. While the league plans an All-Star break this season, there will be no game itself. [NBA]
Wingo exits ESPN
Longtime ESPN anchor Trey Wingo officially left the network on Wednesday, ending a 23-year tenure. His exit was first reported by the New York Post in September. Wingo had been in limbo since the cancellation this summer of the ESPN Radio show he co-hosted with Mike Golic. His only other ESPN role was as host of the network’s NFL Draft coverage.
