A-Rod returning for fourth year of Sunday Night Baseball
ESPN announced Tuesday that it has re-signed its Sunday Night Baseball broadcast team of analyst Alex Rodriguez and play-by-play voice Matt Vasgersian, extending their tenures on the series to at least a fourth year. According to the New York Post, both deals are for this season only.
The pair worked their first two seasons alongside Jessica Mendoza before ESPN shifted to a two-person booth last season. Rodriguez and Vasgersian will be joined by the returning Buster Olney. [ESPN PR 1.19, NYP 1.19]
Wingo gets new gig
Former ESPN broadcaster Trey Wingo is scheduled to work early round coverage of the PGA Tour event at Torrey Pines for PGA Tour Live later this month, his first national assignment since the end of his 23-year ESPN tenure last fall, Golfweek reported Friday. Wingo would work alongside Billy Kratzert on featured groups coverage. [Golfweek 1.15]
“Feherty” ends as Feherty continues
Golf Channel has ended David Feherty’s eponymous show, though Feherty himself will remain with the network on a three-year deal that was reached last month. Feherty told Golf World that he learned of his show’s cancellation early last year. The final episode of the show, which debuted in 2011, aired in September. [Golf World 1.15]
