Overnight ratings soared for the first round of the 2012 U.S. Open.
First round coverage of the 2012 U.S. Open golf tournament drew a 2.1 overnight rating on NBC Thursday afternoon, according to Sports Business Daily, up 50% from last year (1.4).
Over on ESPN, first round action drew a 1.5 overnight in the early afternoon, up 88% from last year (0.8), and up 25% from 2010 (1.2).
Coverage later in the evening also drew a 1.5, up 36% from last year (1.1), but down 25% from 2010 (2.0).
