- Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryant could join Chris Paul and Dwight Howard on Christmas Day. After news of a Hornets/Magic Christmas Day game leaked last week, reports have the Lakers and Celtics playing each other at Staples Center on the holiday. The NBA Finals rematch would presumably air on ABC. The Celtics will apparently play on another major holiday, as the Boston Herald Inside Track has them hosting a Thanksgiving Day game.
- NBC has added an extra half-hour to its record setting coverage of the upcoming Beijing Olympics. The network’s coverage of Friday’s Opening Ceremony has been moved up from 8 PM ET to 7:30 PM. Bob Costas and Matt Lauer will anchor coverage of the event, which NBC Sports executive producer David Neal promises “will captivate viewers in the U.S. and around the world.”
- NBC will “stream 2,200 hours of live events across 25 sports on NBCOlympics.com” during its coverage of the Olympics. Viewers will be able to watch “events on up to four screens at a time“, though online coverage will consist of the standard world feed, without NBC’s broadcasters. Some of the events that will not be streamed include “live gymnastics, track and field, swimming, diving, volleyball or beach volleyball“, as those will be set aside for NBC’s prime time coverage.
