- ESPN drew another strong rating for NASCAR coverage on Sunday. The Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 drew a 3.8 national rating with 6.2 million viewers, even in ratings and up 3% in total viewers from last year. The race finishes as the third-most watched NASCAR race on cable so far this season, behind last week’s Allstate 400 at the Brickyard and the Coke Zero 400.
- NBC drew a 4.7/8 final rating for the NFL Hall of Fame Game on Sunday, up 292% from a 1.2 for last year’s game on the NFL Network, but down 31% from a 6.8 in 2006, the last time the game aired on broadcast. The 4.7 rating is the lowest for the Hall of Fame Game since 1998, when ABC drew a 4.4 for Buccaneers/Steelers.
- Through the end of July, FOX and TBS are seeing double-digit declines for their MLB telecasts, while ESPN has seen a slight increase for Sunday Night Baseball. FOX Saturday Baseballaveraged 3.1 million viewers through July 26, down 12% from last year. Meanwhile, TBS has averaged just 675,000 viewers for its Sunday afternoon games, down 31% from the 982,000 viewers it averaged for Braves games through July ’07. Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN is averaging 2.8 million viewers, up 1% from last year.
