From the no-surprise department, the New York Yankees easily attracted the biggest MLB Postseason overnight rating on Sunday.
Game 1 of the Yankees/Orioles American League Division Series drew a 3.3 overnight rating on TBS Sunday night, up 18% from Cardinals/Phillies Game 2 in a similar timeslot last year (2.8).
The 3.3 overnight was the highest of the day for the MLB Postseason on any network. Due to a lengthy rain delay, the game aired opposite Game 2 of the Reds/Giants National League Division Series on TNT, making the increase even more impressive.
The Reds/Giants game suffered due to the competition, attracting a mere 0.9 overnight on TNT.
Also on Sunday, Game 1 of the Nationals/Cardinals NLDS drew a 1.9 overnight — down 17% from Tigers/Yankees Game 2 on TNT in the same timeslot last year.
MLB Network led off the day with a 1.0 overnight for Game 2 of the Athletics/Tigers ALDS, a record for live MLB game coverage on the network.
