On Saturday night, New Yorkers far preferred Michael Phelps run for his record eighth gold medal to Brett Favre‘s first snap as a New York Jet.
Favre’s debut against Washington drew a 3.4/7 rating on WCBS in New York, not even competitive with the 16.9/34 the Olympics drew on WNBC. The game was the second-highest rated television program of the night in New York.
In Washington, the game drew a 9.6/18, behind a 20.7/37 for the Olympics, but well ahead of a 0.1/0 for Rockies/Nationals.
Here is how other NFL preseason games fared against the Olympics on Saturday:
Chicago: 15.5/29 (Olympics), 8.1/14 (Bears/Seahawks)
Dallas: 16.2/31 (Olympics), 8.8/16 (Cowboys/Broncos)
San Fran.: 22.4/46 (Olympics), 6.2/14 (49ers/Packers)
Atlanta: 19.8/45 (Olympics), 7.0/12 (Falcons/Colts)
