For the second straight week, college football did poorly on FOX. In other news, the SEC led the way on ESPN yet again, and figure skating’s Skate America competition suffered a decline on NBC.
- Another Rough Week For College Football on FOX: Saturday’s Kansas State/West Virginia college football game drew a 1.7 overnight rating on FOX, down a tick from USC/Washington the previous week (1.8), and down 47% from West Virginia/Texas two weeks ago (3.2). The 1.7 is tied as the lowest for primetime college football on FOX since Hawaii/USC in week one of the season (1.4). The telecast was beaten soundly by “Saturday Night Football” on ABC (3.5) and Alabama/Tennessee on ESPN (2.6). Earlier Saturday, Stanford/California drew a minuscule 0.7 overnight. - LSU/Texas A&M Tops Saturday Games on ESPN: ESPN earned a 2.8 overnight rating for the Noon ET Louisiana State/Texas A&M college football game, the top college football overnight of the day on cable. The telecast was outdrawn head-to-head by regional action on ABC (3.1). Later Saturday, Alabama/Tennessee drew a 2.6 overnight. Over on ESPN2, reverse mirror coverage of regional ABC action drew a 0.5 overnight Saturday afternoon, while Middle Tennessee State/Mississippi State earned a 0.2 in primetime. - Skate America Down From Last Year, 2010: Tape delayed coverage of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating “Skate America” competition drew a 0.9 overnight rating on NBC, down a tick from live coverage on a Saturday afternoon last year (1.0), and down 25% from live Sunday afternoon coverage in 2010 (1.2).
