It was an ugly holiday weekend for the SEC on CBS.
Saturday’s Auburn/Alabama college football game, won by Alabama in a 49-0 rout, earned a mere 2.2 overnight rating on CBS — down 49% from the same matchup last year (4.3), and down 48% from Louisiana State/Arkansas in 2010 (4.2).
The 2.2 overnight is tied as the lowest of the season for CBS’ 3:30 PM ET college football window.
Auburn/Alabama was crushed head-to-head by Florida/Florida State on ABC (5.6).
On Friday, Louisiana State/Arkansas drew a slightly better 3.0 overnight — but that was still down 51% from the same matchup last year (6.1), and down 60% from Auburn/Alabama in 2010 (7.5).
The 3.0 is the lowest for a Black Friday game on CBS since LSU/Arkansas in 2008 (2.5).
Despite the huge drop, LSU/Arkansas earned the highest college football overnight of the day on broadcast, topping a doubleheader on ABC and Washington/Washington State on FOX.
