Thanks in part to a two-hour rain delay for Game 3 of the World Series, a college football battle helped ABC to a prime time win on Saturday night.
The battle between #3 Penn State and #9 Ohio State averaged 9.4 million viewers and a 3.2/7 rating among adults 18-49 in prime time (8-11 PM) Saturday night, helping ABC to an easy prime time victory over second-place FOX.
The 9.4 million viewers in prime time is the second most of the season for Saturday Night Football, behind only Ohio State/USC in September.
Penn State/Ohio State did not have to go head-to-head with the World Series, which was delayed two hours due to rain. From 8-11 PM Saturday night, FOX averaged 7.3 million viewers and a 2.1/7 among adults 18-49 for coverage of the rain-delay. The game did not begin until 10 PM ET.
