- Doris Burke: The ESPN basketball analyst will replace Michele Tafoya on the sidelines of the lead NBA broadcast team this season. Burke, who frequently works WNBA and men’s and women’s college basketball games, gained prominence earlier this year as an analyst on ESPN NBA Playoff telecasts. Burke: “I don’t think anybody is hiring me on my looks or clothes … From my perspective, I’m just a nuts-and-bolts person. I think I have a lot of basketball knowledge. That’s my thing.”
- Barack Obama and John McCain: The presidential candidates will appear on ESPN’s Monday Night Football telecast on the eve of the 2008 Presidential Election. The senators will take part in an interview via satellite with Chris Berman, which will air at halftime.
- Mike Ditka: The ESPN NFL analyst hit the campaign trail on behalf of John McCain and Sarah Palin on Friday. Ditka, a Republican, who considered running for the senate in 2004 opposite Barack Obama, appeared at a Palin rally in Pennsylvania. This week, Sunday NFL Countdown will run a feature on what could have been had Ditka run in ’04.
