Tuesday
- NFL Network ended its eight-game schedule down 15% in ratings and 20% in viewership compared to last year.
- Monday Night Football on ESPN ended its season with its third-highest rated game of the year (Packers/Bears on Dec. 15). For the season, MNF was up 4% in ratings and 7% in viewers from ’07.

Wednesday
- NBC drew an 11.5 final rating for last Sunday’s Panthers/Giants overtime thriller, the fourth-highest rating of the year for Sunday Night Football.
- The final set of prime time NFL ratings during the 2008 season.
- Ratings for the first weekend of the college bowl season: record high ratings for the New Mexico Bowl, and a 50% decline in ratings for the New Orleans Bowl.
- The Boston Celtics’ record 27-2 start led to record high ratings locally.
Thursday
- Most of the readers on this site picked Celtics/Lakers as the NBA Christmas Day game they most wanted to watch.
Friday
- Celtics/Lakers drew a 5.3 rating and 9.9 million viewers on ABC Christmas Day, up 51% and 66% from ’07, and the second highest rating for a regular season NBA game since 2000.
- A review of ABC’s season-opening NBA doubleheader. The good: Breen, Van Gundy and Jackson. The bad: Paul Blart: Mall Cop.

Saturday/Sunday
- The start of the 2008 Year in Review series. First, the Arena Football League, which had a turbulent year to say the least.
- A look at the WNBA’s year, which may best be remembered for the league’s biggest brawl.
- Finally, examining the year in the IRL, which reunited with Champ Car, signed a deal with Versus, and felt the effects of the economic crisis.
