The first weekend of the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs could not match last year’s torrid pace.
Game 3 of the Blackhawks/Wild first round Stanley Cup playoff series drew a 1.5 overnight on NBC Sunday afternoon, down 35% from Penguins/Flyers Game 3 last year (2.3), but up 15% from Capitals/Rangers Game 3 in 2011 (1.3).
At the time, last year’s game had the highest overnight for an NHL playoff game (excluding the Stanley Cup Final) since 2002.
Earlier in the day, Game 3 between the Penguins and Islanders drew a 1.4 overnight — down a tick from Predators/Red Wings Game 3 last year (1.5).
Rangers/Capitals Game 2 on Saturday drew a 1.2 overnight, down 20% from Capitals/Bruins Game 2 in a later timeslot last year (1.5), but up a tick from Coyotes/Red Wings Game 2 in 2011 (1.1).
