Thanks in part to unusually low numbers last year, ratings increased for Sunday’s postponed NASCAR race from Kentucky.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Quaker State 400 from Kentucky earned a 2.6 U.S. rating and nearly 4.0 million viewers on TNT Sunday afternoon, up a tick in ratings and 3% in viewership from last year (2.5, 3.9M), but down 13% and 20%, respectively, from 2011 (3.0, 5.0M).
Sunday’s race was originally scheduled for Saturday night, but was postponed due to rain. Last year’s race aired as scheduled, but inclement weather in the rest of the country resulted in several markets being excluded from the numbers.
Though up from last year, Sunday’s race ranks as the lowest rated and least-viewed regular Sprint Cup points race on any network this season.
Even with the season-low, the Quaker State 400 ranked as the eighth-most viewed program of the week on cable, and the top sporting event.
