HBO has filled the vacancy left by the departing Bob Costas.
FOX Sports announcer Joe Buck will join HBO starting this May. Buck will host a new quarterly talk show on the network, likely in a “live town hall format.” The new show essentially replaces Costas Now, and in the words of HBO Sports exec producer Rick Bernstein, will “showcase Joe?s character and personality.”
Buck will continue in his role as a play-by-play man for NFL and MLB coverage on FOX.
Buck had previously worked on a proposed talk show that would have aired on FOX. That show would have aired on a weekly basis, and was set to take place in a taxi cab with a New York cab driver serving as the co-host.
