Sports Illustrated writer Selena Roberts is denying the explosive allegations made against her by MLB star Alex Rodriguez.
In an interview with ESPN Monday, Rodriguez accused Roberts, a co-writer of the SI article that tied the slugger to performance enhancing drugs, of stalking him and of trying to break into his house. Rodriguez: “This lady has been thrown out of my apartment in New York City. This lady has five days ago just been thrown out of the University of Miami police for trespassing. And four days ago she tried to break into my house where my girls are up there sleeping, and got cited by the Miami Beach police.”
In response, Roberts told SI’s Dan Patrick that the “long list of things he alleged were a complete fabrication.” Roberts says she “never rang his doorbell … I never stepped on his driveway. I was never anywhere near his house.” And while the police did talk to her near Rodriguez property, it was apparently to “answer a guard’s question about whether the island A-Rod’s home is on was public or private property.”
She also denied being thrown out of the University of Miami by campus police. “I never talked to the police [on campus], except for Alex himself who wanted me to leave.”
In an earlier interview with MLB Network, Roberts denied another of Rodriguez’ claims, saying she “never set foot in the lobby of Alex’s New York apartment.” She called Rodriguez’ claims “a diversion, a shoot-the-messenger type of thing.”
