For the third straight week, NBA ratings fell by double-digits.
ABC drew a mere 1.2/3 final rating for last Sunday’s Heat/Pistons game, down 13% from a 1.5 for last year’s comparable Spurs/Mavericks game, and the lowest rating for an NBA game on broadcast since Suns/Kings drew a 1.0 in March ’07.
The 1.2 final rating is the third-lowest ever for an NBA game on broadcast, tied with a Hornets/Pistons game from last year.
This marks the third straight week NBA ratings have fallen by double digits. Suns/Spurs on March 8 drew a 1.6, down 24%, and Mavericks/Lakers on March 15 drew a 2.0, down 20%.
Despite the three straight weeks of declines, ABC is still averaging a 2.6 rating for NBA coverage, up 13% from a 2.3 through the same date last year, and the highest average through thirteen games since the 2002-03 season.
