Overnight ratings were of course huge for Super Bowl 48, but the numbers were still the lowest in four years.
Super Bowl 48 between the Seahawks and Broncos earned a 47.6 overnight rating on FOX Sunday night, down 1% from Ravens/49ers on CBS last year (48.1), and down less than 1% from Giants/Patriots on NBC in 2012 (47.8).
Last year’s Super Bowl was the highest rated ever in the metered markets.
The 47.6 overnight is the lowest for the Super Bowl since Saints/Colts on CBS in 2010 (46.4). Of course, lower numbers were to be expected considering the Seahawks’ 35-point drubbing of the Broncos.
With that said, the 47.6 still ranks as the fifth-best Super Bowl overnight on record, according to Sports Business Daily.
