What NBC is calling a “bonus” night of Olympic coverage earned solid numbers.
Primetime coverage of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics earned an 11.3 rating and 20.0 million viewers on NBC, according to Nielsen fast-nationals. As this year marked the first time that NBC began coverage prior to the Opening Ceremony, there are no comparisons to recent years.
Thursday’s coverage drew fewer viewers than all-but-one telecast of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, but that is to be expected considering the early start.
NBC will not factor Thursday’s results into its overall Olympic caverage.
Among adults 18-49, the telecast earned a 6.0 rating.
