- Stephen A. Smith: The Big Lead reports that the ESPN NBA analyst “will be actively looking for work this summer” after he and ESPN could not come to an agreement on a new contract. According to the site, Smith and ESPN began negotiating on a new contract within the last month, with Smith passing when ESPN made an offer that was “was considerably lower than Smith?s previous contracts.” Smith has been with ESPN since late 2003.
- David Wells: The former MLB pitcher has joined TBS as an MLB analyst. Wells will serve as a game analyst on some of TBS’ Sunday afternoon MLB telecasts, and will be in the studio for the network’s coverage of the 2009 MLB postseason.
- Charles Barkley: The popular TNT NBA analyst has been given his own video channel on NBA.com. The Barkley Zone is one of five video channels debuting on NBA.com with the start of the playoffs. The channel will feature segments such as “Soundoff”, which features Barkley opining on various topics, and “Where They Been?”, in which Barkley talks with former teammates.
