The final game of the NHL conference finals attracted record numbers for NBCSN.
Game 7 of the Kings/Blackhawks NHL Western Conference final earned a 3.2 overnight rating on NBCSN Sunday night, the highest overnight ever for an NHL telecast on the network — including the Stanley Cup Final. The previous high was a 3.1 for Game 3 of last year’s Stanley Cup Final between the Blackhawks and Bruins.
The 3.2 overnight is also the highest for any NHL game outside of the Stanley Cup Final since at least 1996. The previous high was a 2.9 set by multiple Winter Classics and last year’s Kings/Blackhawks clincher.
Sunday’s game was the #3 sporting event of the weekend on broadcast or cable, trailing only Game 6 of the NBA Western Conference Finals on TNT (5.7) and NASCAR Sprint Cup racing on FOX (3.3).
