Longtime Fox Sports sideline reporter Pam Oliver is getting bumped to the #2 team this season.
Fox Sports announced Monday that Oliver will join the broadcast team of Kevin Burkhardt and John Lynch this season, ending her run on the network’s lead team of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. Though FOX did not say so in Monday’s press release, Sports Illustrated reported that Erin Andrews — who last season worked with Burkhardt and Lynch — will replace Oliver on the lead team.
Furthermore, SI.com reported that Oliver will be taken off the sideilnes completely after this season. Oliver has been with FOX since 1995 and had been on the network’s lead NFL team since 2002.
The demotion comes after Oliver had a rough 2013-14 NFL season. She suffered a concussion after being hit with a football during the preseason and conducted a somewhat strange interview with losing 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh after the NFC title game.
Even without the lowlights of last season, Oliver’s demotion seemed like a foregone conclusion the very moment FOX hired Andrews from ESPN.
