The third season of college football on FOX got off to a very poor start.
Saturday’s Fresno State/USC college football game drew a 0.9 overnight rating on FOX, the network’s lowest ever for a primetime college football telecast. The previous low was a 1.2 for Arizona State/Washington last year.
The 0.9 overnight is very likely the lowest ever for a primetime college football game on any broadcast network. To put the numbers in perspective, even primetime IndyCar racing earned a higher overnight on ABC last year (1.1).
Fresno State/USC was easily topped by both Florida State/Oklahoma State on ABC (4.1) and Wisconsin/LSU on ESPN (2.5).
