YES Network attracted record numbers for Derek Jeter‘s final home game. In other news, FOX had a double-digit increase for MLB coverage last week, and Sunday Night Baseball ended its season with another small audience.
Jeter’s Finale Home Game Scores For YES Network
- Thursday’s Orioles/Yankees Major League Baseball game, the final home game for retiring Yankees SS Derek Jeter, drew a 10.8 local rating on YES Network — the second-highest rated Yankees game ever on the network. Only the 2005 season-opener against the Red Sox drew a higher rating (11.6). The game drew 1.25 million viewers, topping the 2005 game (1.21M) as the most-watched ever on YES. FOX Scores Double-Digit Increase For MLB
- Last week’s edition of MLB on FOX drew a 1.3 final rating and 1.9 million viewers, up 30% in ratings and 36% in viewership from last year (1.0, 1.4M). The double-digit increase marked a recovery of sorts after FOX hit a likely record-low the previous week. (Sat. numbers from Sports Business Daily)
Sunday Night Baseball Finale Low, But Up
- The Reds/Cardinals Sunday Night Baseball season finale drew a 0.7 U.S. rating and 1.1 million viewers on ESPN, flat in ratings and up 9% in viewership from Cardinals/Brewers last year (0.7, 1.0M). The last six SNB telecasts of the season ranked as the six least-viewed. (Sun. numbers from Awful Announcing)
