A thriller between Notre Dame and Stanford could not match last year’s comparable game, which aired in primetime.
Last Saturday’s Stanford/Notre Dame college football game drew a 2.2 final rating and 3.4 million viewers on NBC, down a tick in ratings and 8% in viewership from Arizona State/Notre Dame in primetime last year (2.3, 3.7M) and down 33% and 35%, respectively, from Stanford/Notre Dame in 2012 (3.3, 5.2M).
All four Notre Dame telecasts on NBC have declined from last year.
Notre Dame’s overtime win aired in a particularly crowded timeslot, facing Mississippi’s upset of Alabama on CBS (3.7, 5.9M), defending champion Florida State on ABC (2.3, 3.6M) and TCU’s upset of Oklahoma on FOX (1.3, 2.2M).
