The ACC Championship Game will get prime time exposure this year, but will lose its presence on broadcast.
The 2009 ACC Championship Game will air at 8 PM on ESPN this December, marking the first time since 2005 that the ACC title game will air in prime time. In the past three years, the ACC Championship Game has aired in the early afternoon on ABC.
The move pits the ACC Championship Game directly opposite the Big 12 Championship Game, which traditionally airs in the 8 PM timeslot on ABC.
Last year’s ACC Championship Game drew a 2.6 rating on ABC, down 31% from a 4.1 the previous year.
