Though undefeated and in the top ten, Notre Dame could not generate an increase in overnight ratings for their win over North Carolina.
The North Carolina/Notre Dame college football game drew a 2.3 overnight rating on NBC Saturday, down 8% from USC/Notre Dame in primetime last year (2.5) and down 15% from BYU/Notre Dame in 2012 (2.7). Four of the five Notre Dame telecasts on NBC this season have had declines in overnights.
Notre Dame’s blowout win was topped head-to-head by both Auburn/Mississippi State on CBS (3.8) and regional coverage on ABC featuring TCU/Baylor (2.7).
Overall, the game ranked fifth for the week on any network — trailing the two previously mentioned games, Texas/Oklahoma on ABC (3.3) and Mississippi/Texas A&M on ESPN (2.7).
