A game few would have pegged for CBS at the start of the season, Mississippi State/Kentucky generated the week’s top college football audience.
Last Saturday’s Mississippi State/Kentucky game drew a 3.1 final rating and 5.0 million viewers on CBS, up 19% in ratings and 24% in viewership from Tennessee/Alabama last year (2.6, 4.0M) and the top college football telecast of the week. The Bulldogs’ win edged Mississippi’s upset loss to LSU on ESPN in both ratings (3.1 to 3.0) and viewership (4.995M to 4.952M).
In seven weeks on the air this season, the SEC on CBS has been the week’s top draw five times. Overall, at least one SEC team has played in the week’s top game in six of nine weeks.
Head-to-head, Mississippi State/Kentucky topped Michigan/Michigan State on ABC (2.4, 3.8M).
