Monday Night Football hit a new season-low, and by a decent margin, for Ravens/Saints.
The Week 12 Ravens/Saints Monday Night Football game drew a 7.1 overnight rating on ESPN, down 22% from 49ers/Washington last year (9.1), down 9% from Panthers/Eagles in 2012 (7.8), and the lowest of the season for MNF. The previous low was a 7.8, set by Cardinals/Chargers in Week 1 and Panthers/Eagles in Week 10.
Monday’s game faced unusual competition. The rescheduled Jets/Bills game aired head-to-head with Ravens/Saints until 10 PM ET, albeit only in the New York area. Furthermore, breaking news coverage resulted in stronger-than-usual competition from the cable news networks.
The 22% decline for Ravens/Saints is the second-largest of the season for MNF, trailing only a 24% drop for Steelers/Titans the previous week. Three of the last four MNF telecasts have had double-digit declines.
