Brent Musburger will make his ESPN season debut on the network’s highest-profile game. In other news, Fox Sports’ Notre Dame/USC coverage will include alums Matt Leinart and Brady Quinn, and a trio of newcomers is set to make their Fox Sports debut during next month’s World Cup Draw.
Musburger Returns From Exile For Auburn/Alabama
- ESPN has assigned Brent Musburger to Saturday’s Auburn/Alabama Iron Bowl, his first game of the season on any of the traditional ESPN networks. Musburger, who was ESPN’s lead college football voice until the network replaced him with Chris Fowler in March, has spent most of the season calling low-quality games on the non-Nielsen rated SEC Network. The Iron Bowl, a CBS staple that will likely rank as ESPN’s top broadcast of the season, marks an abrupt and significant upgrade. (ESPN Media Zone)
Leinart, Quinn, On-Site For Notre Dame/USC
- Fox Sports college football analysts Matt Leinart and Brady Quinn will contribute to coverage of Saturday’s Notre Dame/USC game on FOX. The former quarterbacks for USC and Notre Dame, respectively, will provide on-site analysis during the pregame, halftime and postgame segments. (Fox Sports)
Three Fox Sports Newcomers to Debut During World Cup Draw
- Sky Sports host Kate Abdo and former soccer players Ariane Hingst and Kelly Smith will debut with Fox Sports on next month’s Women’s World Cup Draw. In a press release last week, Fox Sports did not announce what roles the three would play beyond the World Cup Draw, but it can be assumed that they will contribute to the coverage of the Women’s World Cup.
