A rare Saturday NFL doubleheader produced mixed numbers on NFL Network and CBS.
The Week 16 Chargers/49ers NFL regular season game drew an 8.9 overnight rating on CBS and NFL Network Saturday night, the second-lowest for any primetime NFL game on broadcast in three years — since NBC drew an 8.2 for Colts/Saints opposite the World Series in 2011.
The only game to draw a lower overnight over that span was Buccaneers/Falcons in Week 3 of this season (8.5), also part of the Thursday Night Football package.
Earlier Saturday, Eagles/Washington drew a 6.1 overnight on NFL Network and local affiliates in the home markets. The 6.1 is the third-highest overnight of the season for a TNF game that was not simulcast on CBS, trailing only Cowboys/Bears in Week 14 (8.0) and Browns/Bengals in Week 11 (6.7).
