After facing serious health issues, longtime sportscasters Craig Sager and Bob Neumeier are on the road back.
Sager is “close to coming back” to television, his son posted on Twitter last week. The TNT sideline reporter has been off the air since April after being diagnosed with leukemia. Still recovering, he will miss at least the first half of February — including the NBA All-Star Game — to ensure a “faster/safer recovery” (Twitter, 1/22).
In an NBA.com profile published late last year, it was said Sager hopes to return to the air sometime next month.
Meanwhile, Neumeier has recovered significantly from a serious stroke suffered last fall. The NBC Sports horse racing analyst said he is “well on [his] way to recovery” and hopes to return to NBC and Comcast SportsNet New England soon. “All of my motor skills and speech work are intact, thank goodness,” he told the website Daily Racing Form, “I’ve had enormous support from doctors, speech therapists, friends, colleagues, my wife, and everyone.”
