CBS’ coverage of the U.S. Open got off to a good start over the weekend.
Coverage of tennis’ final Grand Slam averaged a 2.0/5 overnight rating on CBS over Labor Day Weekend, up 18% from a 1.7/4 last year, and the highest average for the first weekend of the U.S. Open on CBS since ’06.
In particular, coverage on Labor Day drew a 2.3/5 overnight from 12:30-6 PM, up 10% from last year’s 2.1/5, but the second-lowest overnight for coverage in that window since ’04.
Meanwhile, coverage on Sunday drew a 2.1/6, up 31% from last year’s 1.6/4, and the highest overnight in that window since ’06. Saturday’s telecast scored a 1.6/4, up 14% from a 1.4/4 last year, and tied as the highest overnight in that window since ’05.
